Year of the Reaper by Makiia Lucier *REVIEW*
Year of the Reaper
By Makiia Lucier
I had never heard of this book until I received it in one of my Fairyloot boxes. The synopsis sounded interesting so I decided to participate in the read along that they were hosting to read it. The book started out so strong, I loved that Cas could see spirits of the dead and how he helped them when he could. I also loved the relationships that Cas had with the other characters, especially with his brother and Lena. There were a lot of twists in this book, some I saw coming and others that I didn't. I enjoyed the book for the most part but I think I was expecting a little more in the end. I assumed there would be zombies in this book like a pride, prejudice and zombies kind of book but there was only sickness and death. I think one of the major events of the book was brought up and ended within a few chapters and it just felt like it happened all too quick and then the book was over. At the end, I think it could have benefited from being a bit longer, especially since some of the questions that I had throughout the book weren't answered by the end. I give it a solid 3 stars but in the end, I just wanted more.
