I absolutely loved this one! I wasn't sure going in because I wasn't a fan of the other fantasy series that the author did, the curse breakers series, but I did enjoy the authors contemporary books so I decided to give her fantasy books another try and I'm so glad I did! I loved Tessa as a main character, she is strong and helps the people who need it most, but she also isn't afraid to show emotion. She kind of reminded me of America in the selection series when she was talking to King Harristan about how bad things were for people outside of the royal sector. Secondary characters are always hit or miss for me but the ones in Defy The Night you couldn't help but feel for. Prince Corrick was one of my favourites and I loved seeing him develop throughout the book. There were many plot twists in this one that I definitely did not see coming and lots of action and a little bit of romance too. I can't wait to see where the author takes the series in the second book. This is one you aren't going to want to miss.
