Only A Monster by Vanessa Len *REVIEW*
Only A Monster
By Vanessa Len
This is another book that I didn't really have any knowledge about until I received it in my Fairyloot box. To start things off, I'm not really the biggest fan of urban fantasy but I decided to give this one a go. The first part of the book was pretty slow because of this but once Joan and Aaron time traveled, I started to enjoy the story more. This one was really fast paced with lots of "survival" type moments that I enjoy, and the banter between Joan and Aaron was another selling feature for this book. I liked how the different families had different powers but it would have been cool to have this written down at the beginning of the book so that the reader could remember throughout it. This book had a pretty unique premise that had me comparing it to the movie, In Time, and the TV show Umbrella Academy, especially with Five's powers. However, at the end of this one, the romance was not the one that I was rooting for and honestly didn't see how the characters could have been in love. I also was left with a bunch of questions at the end. I see now that this book is going to be apart of a series and not a standalone like I thought, but I'm not sure if at the end it left me invested enough to want to continue the series.
