The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken *REVIEW*

The Darkest Minds

By Alexandra Bracken

Man this book was an emotional roller coaster! At the beginning when we are first introduced to Ruby, I was a little confused with the first 100 pages or so what with the flashback/prologue scene and trying to keep all the colours and powers straight in my head. But after the initial few chapters I was hooked and couldn't put this book down.

I thought the world was really interesting as it was post apocalyptic but still had some aspects with it of the world before everything started to happen which is something that I haven't really seen before. The main cast was great, and you could really tell that they cared a lot about each other were more than friends- they were family. The powers being colours was also something that I personally haven't seen done before and when they were first introduced it was hard for me to keep them apart but then I got the hang of what colour corresponded to what power.

At times I felt like the road trip could have been just a little bit shorter, and all the events toward the end started happening so fast, it was like my heart couldn't keep up and that cliff hanger ending made me want to pick up the second book right away.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable book and I can't wait to see what happens to the characters in book 2!
